History

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School was established  under the leadership of the Pastor of St. Michael Parish, Rev. Thomas Calnan and the first Principal, Sister Eleanor, SNJM, and opened in 1933 on Pershing Drive. In 1936, the school relocated to its current campus on Wayne Avenue in the heart of downtown Silver Spring.

St. Michael the Archangel School is rich in Catholic tradition and identity in service to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The curriculum of St. Michael School is guided by the standards of the Archdiocese of Washington, and is accredited by                        AdvanceEd Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

                                                     

Mission Statement

 St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School provides a nuturing, educational experience that helps develop students intellectually, socially,  spiritually and physically.  We offer a challenging curriculum, a supportive learning community, and an enriching religious experience consistent with the teaching mission of the Catholic Church.  Dedicated to meeting the unique educational needs of our diverse student population, we partner with our students' families and St. Michael Parish to meet these common goals; the most important of which is to assist each student in the journey to God.
